MoraKniv 105 has a narrow, pointed blade for precision carving. But if you are familiar with Mora’s iconic 106 and 120 sloyd knives, you will be most struck by the contoured handle with a finger guard and larger grip than those knives have. (The knife is known in Sweden as the “Nusnas knife” and associated with carving Dala horses, but we expect our customers to buy it for a range of carving, whittling and sloyd work unconnected to this tradition that we frankly never heard of before we acquired this knife.

In practice, the handle may be more comfortable for some carvers, and it is also big enough so that folks who want to custom-carve their knife handles can do so.

The 105 has an 84 mm - 2.7 mm thick laminated carbon steel blade. The longer blade, larger handle, and full rat-tail tang running through the handle provide good stability and control. The pointy blade tip is ideal for carving a graceful spoon neck, detail carving and other tight radius work.

The blade reaches a hardness of 58.5 HRC and has a polished surface that protects against rust, but should always be wiped and oiled after use. The handle is made of oiled birch.

Made in Mora, Sweden.

Note: this knife comes with a cardboard blade envelope, not a sheath.
