Osmo LED Smart Oil gives you instant gratification. This exciting product enables you to apply the breathable and durable Osmo finish and dry and cure it almost instantly with the treatment with a handheld LED lamp.
Think of what this means to your schedule - whether in your own home or as a deliverable to a client. Eliminate the variables of ambient temperature and humidity, sequencing of tasks, and other factors that complicate your projects’ completion. Use it on furniture, stairs, flooring and other interior applications. It is even suitable for oily and resinous woods.
The LED Smart Oil is applied with a roller or white pad in a thin, even coat, then buffed with a white pad to eliminate any streaks. Then the workpiece is treated with a 365 nm LED lamp - more on this below - for an immediate cure. If you want, you can sand the workpiece lightly with 320 grit sandpaper (or equivalent woven pad) and apply a second coat. One coat will give you a matte finish; a second coat will give you a satin finish. You may want to use a double coat for high traffic areas or if your furniture will be scrubbed often or in a moist area.
The LED Smart is extremely high yield (“full solid” as opposed to the standard “high solid”), so a little goes a long way. As always with Osmo, LED Smart oil is microporous, water repellent and very hard-wearing. LED Smart Oil is additionally a no-VOC and food safe finish.
This product has two important features to bear in mind: (1) it will not cure at all if it is not cured with an appropriate UV lamp and (2) it has a limited shelf life (6 months) because of its LED UV initiators. The clock starts ticking as of the date of manufacture (which we will note on the can). Once the LED Smart Oil goes bad, it turns into goop that cannot be stirred up. We are therefore going to keep a tight control of product inventory, and you may need to let us know in advance if you want to purchase this product.
As noted previously, you will be unable to cure the LED Smart Oil without a 395 nm LED lamp. Osmo’s LED lamp comes with a 1 year warranty. If you are opting to use another lamp, be sure that it is a 395 nm LED lamp. Osmo’s own lamp is 15 Watts / cm2., which equates to around 2400 watts total. Lesser-powered lamps may need to get passed over the finish several times to make it cure properly, so be guided accordingly.
